The purpose of the University of Minnesota, Crookston intramural
program is to provide all students with competitive sports and
activities within a fun and safe environment. Through intramurals,
we will promote wellness of our body and mind, sportsmanship
of athletes and spectators, and leadership in all aspects of
life.
Eligibility
To participate in intramurals you must be an enrolled student
with six or more credits, faculty, or staff member at UMC and
sign the intramural activities assumption of risk waiver. All
participants must present a valid UCard before engaging in intramural
programs. Red shirts of varsity athletics are allowed to participate
in the activities however, they must notify their coach.
Registration
An online registration form will be filled out with team name,
team captain and co-captain, and team roster of the specific
sport. Participants will also need to sign intramural activities
assumption of risk waiver. Changes to your team roster will
be allowed until the end of the fourth game of play.
Free Agents
If you cannot find a team or enough players for a team, you
will be come a free agent. The intramural staff will try to
add a free agent to an existing team or make a new team. Unfortunately,
we may not be able to find a spot for you to play. We as a staff
will work hard to see that everyone has a place to play.
Captain's Responsibility
Attend mandatory captain meeting or any team discipline meeting
Knowledge of intramural and sport specific rules
Able to communicate with the intramural staff and his/her team
To submit an appropriate team name
To fill out the roster form completely
To use eligible players
Scheduling
All game times, tournaments, cancellations and make ups will
be posted on the intramurals website. Schedules will be made
at the end of the registration deadline. If the weather becomes
too bad to play in during the match, captains and an intramural
staff member will discuss how the game will end (suspended,
canceled, or as a completed game). The first team listed on
the schedule will be required to wear a light colored shirt,
second team listed will be required to wear dark colored shirt.
Do to time and space requirements of varsity athletic on the
athletic fields and Lysaker Gymnasium scheduled times may be
pushed back.
Forfeits
Game will start within 10 minutes of scheduled game time. If
a team does not have enough players to play, they will forfeit.
A team with two forfeits will not be eligible of the post season
tournament.
Protests
A protest of any kind must be sent to the intramural director.
If a captain has a protest during the game, it will be taken
to an intramural staff member.
Post Season
Teams that are eligible will play in a seeded tournament. Winner
of the tournament will receive champion T-shirts.
Unsportsmanlike conduct
Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. All offenses
will be taken to an intramural staff member. An offense may
not follow the set penalty protocol, if the offense warrants
stronger punishment.
Minor offense - vulgar language, verbal abuse and playing
with un-rostered player.
1st offense - that game plus 1
2nd offense - that game plus 3
3rd offense - that game plus 6 months suspension
Un-rostered player offense - Game is a forfeit
Major offense - Any attempt to injury or cause any
unwanted contact with a participant, spectator, or employee.
- Playing under the influence
- Causing damage to equipment or facility
1st offense - 6 month suspension
2nd offense - permanent suspension of intramurals
