(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagle Football program announced today that 23 players have signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles during the 2012 season
(at release time). This is the first recruiting class for Head Coach Paul Miller and his coaching staff.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston is an NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
All signees are contingent upon admission to the University of Minnesota, Crookston and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Lawrence plans to major in agricultural systems management at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Tessa and Dan Stroot.

Hughes is a 6-3, 215 lb, offensive lineman from Central High School in Brooksville. He was named a team captain prior to his senior football campaign. Hughes plans to major in natural resources law enforcement at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Cyndi and John Hughes.
Austin Guillen DL 6-1 225 lbs Madison, Wis.
Guillen is a 6-1, 225 lb, defensive lineman from Monona Grove High School in the Badger South Conference. He was named a team captain and the most dedicated player. Guillen was also named all-conference honorable mention following his junior and senior seasons. Guillen plans to major in marketing at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Cheryl Sime and Ricky Guillen.
Zach Burns LB 5-11 195 lbs Grafton, N.D.
Burns is a 5-11, 195 lb, linebacker from Grafton High School in North Dakota East Region AA. He was named 1
st Team All-State Defense at the conclusion of the 2011 season and was selected to participate in the 2012 North Dakota Shrine Bowl. Burns plans to major in agricultural business at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Traci and Todd Burns.
Zack Anderson TE 6-1 200 lbs Albertville, Minn.
Anderson is a 6-1, 200 lb, tight end, from St. Michael-Albertville High School in the Mississippi 8 Conference. He lettered both his junior and senior seasons and was named all-conference honorable mention. Anderson plans to major in natural resources (wildlife management) at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Cindy and Glen Anderson.
Steven Miller LB 6-0 215 lbs South St. Paul, Minn.
Miller is a 6-0, 215 lb, linebacker from South St. Paul High School in the Classic Suburban Conference. He was named an all-conference team member for his play on a team that went 20-3 over the last two seasons. Miller plans to major in health sciences and biology at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Jean and Jorge Rosario.

Machacek is a 6-2, 250 lb, offensive lineman from Eagan High School in the South Suburban Conference. He earned recognition as an all-conference honorable mention player. In the classroom he was a National Honor Society member. Machacek plans to major in software engineering at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Jane and Bill Machacek.
Cole Jackson DL 6-0 290 lbs Ames, Iowa
Jackson is a 6-0, 290 lb, defensive lineman from Iowa Western Community College (IWCC). In high school he played in the Heart of Iowa Conference and at IWCC he played in the Midwest Football Conference. In high school he was named all-conference, all-area, all-state, and was named an all-star at the Shrine Bowl game. He was a two-year starter at IWCC and was a dominant nose tackle for the Edge Bowl Champions. Jackson plans to major in sport & recreation management at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Robin and Kevin Jackson.

Harvey is a 6-2, 180 lb, wide receiver from Long Prairie-Grey Eagle High School in the West Central Conference. He is a four-year letterwinner, three-time team captain, and a two-year all-conference honorable mention player. He was also named the Max-Preps Player of the Week in 2010. Harvey plans to major in agricultural business at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Joan and Tim Harvey.

Lawson is a 6-2, 240 lb, linebacker from Timberview High School in Division II 5-5A. He was named the 2011 National Underclassmen (NUC) Strongest Man MVP, earned the 2011 NUC Best Defensive Player award and leadership award and earned the NUC Combine Top Prospect Leadership Award. Lawson earned 2010 All-District Honorable Mention honors and 2011 All-District Academic honors. He was named to the 2011 All-District 1
st Team and was recognized as the best defensive end on the 2011 regional championship team. Lawson plans to major in health sciences with a minor in communication. He is the son of Tracy and Rene Lawson, Sr.

Jacob Costilow OL 6-5 230 lbs Wildomar, Calif.
Costilow is a 6-5, 230 lb, offensive lineman from Elsinore High School in the Sunbelt League. Following the 2010 season his team was crowned the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Champions. During his senior campaign, he earned a string of awards including being named all-valley, all-area and all-league. He was named lineman of the year by his coaches and was named to the All-CIF team. Costilow plans to major in health sciences at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Melanie and Thomas Costilow.

Stewart is a 6-3, 195 lb, quarterback from Long Beach Cabrillo High School in the Harry J. Moore League. He was named offensive player of the year and first team all league as a quarterback.
