CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's tennis team will get back to action April 6 against the University of Sioux Falls at 2 p.m. and St. Cloud State University at 6 p.m. in Sartell, Minn. The Golden Eagles currently have a 1-9 (0-7 NSIC) record and are coming off their first win of the season with a 6-3 victory over Western New England University March 20 in Orlando, Fla.
In singles, the Golden Eagles have been led by three netters who have each garnered three victories this season. At No. 2 singles,
Katelyn Johnson (Jr., Monticello, Minn.) comes in with a 3-6 overall mark on the season. Freshman
Catherine Brown (Powell Butte, Ore.) also boasts a 3-6 mark coming into the weekend while
Amanda Pihlaja (Sr., Duluth, Minn.) is 3-5 at No. 4 singles.
In doubles, the Golden Eagles have been led by the No. 1 duo of Brown and Johnson, who currently have a 3-6 record on the 2013 season.
The University of Sioux Falls comes into the weekend with a 6-7 (4-4 NSIC) mark in their first year as members of the NSIC. The Cougars last took the court March 24 with a 7-2 victory over Southwest Minnesota State University in Fargo, N.D. Sioux Falls has been led this season by Alison Kauss, who has a 4-9 mark at No. 1 singles and Molly Seigenthaler, who is 6-6 this season at the No. 4 singles spot.
In doubles, Sioux Falls has been led this season by Morgan DeLange and Julia Iversen, who are 3-3 at the No. 3 spot.
St. Cloud State University enters Saturday with a record of 13-9 (7-1 NSIC). The Huskies picked up a 6-3 win over Minnesota State University, Mankato April 4 in their last match. St. Cloud State has been led in singles this year by Cassandra Brown, who is 12-6 at the No. 1 singles slot.
In doubles, St. Cloud State has been paced by Brown and Katie Kotschevar, who is 11-6 on the season.
