Kassi Green Named Second Team All-NSIC

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – University of Minnesota Crookston outside hitter Kassi Green (R-Sr., OH, Anoka, Minn.) was named Second Team All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) as announced Thursday morning by the conference office.

Green is the first Golden Eagle to earn All-NSIC recognition since Brittany Looker was named All-NSIC First Team following the 2014 season. Green put up one of the best seasons of a Golden Eagle in program history with 3.95 kills per set, which currently ranks fifth in the NSIC. In addition, Green hit .173 on the season and notched 2.44 digs per set and 0.41 blocks per set while playing a full six rotations for Coach Sarah Rauen's squad. She tallied three double-doubles on the season. Her best match came with 25 kills and 20 digs in a four-set win over Minnesota State University Moorhead Oct. 20. In addition, Green tallied 25 kills and 17 digs in a win over Minot State University and 21 kills and 14 digs in a victory over South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. She ranks seventh all-time in kills with 873, recently surpassing Amanda Swann.  

Taylor Reiss of Southwest Minnesota State University was named NSIC Player of the Year after tallying 4.94 kills per set and 5.46 points per set. Tahlyr Banks of Augustana University earned NSIC Libero of the Year after notching 5.56 digs per set. Laura Snyder of Northern State University was named NSIC Freshman of the Year after tallying 3.10 kills per set on the season. Concordia University-St. Paul Head Coach Brady Starkey earned NSIC Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career after leading the Golden Bears to at least a share of the NSIC Regular-Season Championship.

Minnesota Crookston will wrap up the 2017 season this weekend with a match Fri., Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. against Southwest Minnesota State and a match Sat., Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. at University of Sioux Falls.
