Golden Eagles End Season Against Minnesota-Duluth
UMC mounted a late inning comeback in game one as Mike Alvestad drove in two to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth before UMD scored four runs in the top of the seventh to pull of the victory. In the second game, Joe Korneta went 4-4 with four homers and 11 RBI's.
UMC finishes the 2004 season 4-36 overall and 2-24 in the NSIC.

Bulldogs Sweep Golden Eagles at Highland Field
The UMD Bulldogs pulled off a sweep Saturday in front of a hostile crowd at Highland Field where one fan was even ejected. UMC committed five errors on the day which didn't help them out and were limited to just two hits in the second game.

Wolves Sweep Golden Eagles
On a chilly afternoon with the wind blowing straight out, 17 home runs were hit between the two teams as Northern State prevailed 9-5 in the first game and 22-8 in the second game. Jeff Knudtson pitched a complete game in the first contest and Aaron Johnson and Tyler McFarland provided the spark on offense. McFarland went 2 for 3 with a run scored and Aaron Johnson went 2 for 3 with three RBI's. Mike Alvestad added a towering home run to left but it wasn't enough as the Wolves combined 13 hits with the relief pitching performance from Joe Dinger who went 4.2 innings allowing only two runs.
The second game saw Northern State explode for 8 runs in the first inning and went on their way to having 25 hits and scoring 22 runs. Leadoff hitter Deacon Burns went 5 for 6 with four runs, five RBI's, and three home runs to lead the Wolves, who improved to 12-19 overall and 6-10 in the Northern Sun Conference. Aaron Challoner belted out two home runs for the Golden Eagles, including one that went over the train tracks in right center. Mike Alvestad hit his second home run on the day and nearly missed another as his shot to center went off the top of the fence. Brandon Wolf went 3 for 4 and Aaron Motl went 2 for 2 to pace UMC's 15 hit attack. With the loss, the Golden Eagles drop to 3-29 overall and 1-17 in the NSIC.
UMC will hit the road for the second weekend in a row as they travel to Winona State for a doubleheader both Saturday and Sunday.

Golden Eagles Lose Two Close Games to Fighting Sioux
UMC had chances to win both games of the doubleheader but failed to convert the big hit in the first game and left nine runners on base in the second game. UMC hitters combined for 18 hits during the two games. Leading the Golden Eagles with combined totals during the doubleheader were Brandon Wolf (4-5, 2 RBI), Dominick Hammer (3-4), Aaron Challoner (3-5, RBI), Tyler McFarland (3-6), and Dan Scheving (2-6).
UMC will get back into NSIC play this weekend as they travel to Bemidji State for a doubleheader both Saturday and Sunday.

Bison Shutout Golden Eagles
North Dakota State used excellent by limiting UMC to three hits combined in the two games to sweep the Golden Eagles. UMC is now 3-17 overall and get set to take off tomorrow (Wednesday) for Wayne State where they will face the Wildcats Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., followed by a 12:00 p.m. start on Friday.

Games Moved to Wayne, Nebraska
This weekend's games against Wayne State have been moved to Wayne, Nebraska in anticipation of cold and rainy weather in Crookston. The Golden Eagles will travel to Wayne to play a doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 1:30 p.m. Friday's doubleheader starts at 12:00 p.m.

Knudtson Named NSIC Pitcher of the Week
Junior Pitcher Jeff Knudtson (Breckenridge, MN) was named Northern Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week. The left-hander pitched a complete-game, three-hit shutout against offensive powerhouse Southwest Minnesota State University. SMSU had previously scored 77 runs in 6 conference games before Knudtson shut them down with seven innings of scoreless baseball. Knudtson didn't allow a walk and recorded six strikeouts as UMC picked up their first conference win of the year. He also pitched one inning of relief earlier in the week against the University of North Dakota where he struck out the side. His totals for the week included eight innings, no runs, four hits, no walks and nine strikeouts.

UMC Ready for Spring Trip
The Golden Eagles head south for their annual spring break trip where they will face teams in both Kansas and Missouri. UMC starts things off Sunday March 14th at 1:00 p.m. with a doubleheader vs. Washburn University in Topeka, KS. The Golden Eagles face Washburn again on Monday March 15th at 2:00 p.m. before heading to Marysville, MO. There the Golden Eagles face Northwest Missouri at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 16th. An off day Wednesday is followed by games vs. Valley City State and Rockhurst on March 18th and the final game of the trip on Friday March 19th against Rockhurst.
