2006-2007 Golden Eagle Women's Golf News
(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston's athletic department announced today that Nate Mahlen and Kim Roysland have been hired to fill two coaching positions. Mahlen was hired as the head women's golf coach / assistant women's basketball coach and Roysland was hired as the part-time assistant women's golf coach. Mahlen played for Head Women's Basketball Coach Mike Roysland at Win-E-Mac High School and was Roysland's assistant coach for four seasons at Fosston High School in Fosston, Minn. He was an assistant coach for the 2000 Win-E-Mac state tournament team. Last season Mahlen was a volunteer assistant coach with the Golden Eagle Women's Basketball team. He is a native of Erskine, Minn., and graduated from Jamestown College in 2000 with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and a minor in physical education with an emphasis in coaching. He lives in Fosston with his wife, Rochelle, and two children, Noah and Brynlea. Assistant Coach Abby Hearn, accepted the head coaching position at Eureka College in Eureka, Ill. Eureka College is a Division III institution in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC). Roysland brings 23 years of varsity girl's golf coaching experience to the Golden Eagle Women's Golf program. In her tenure at Fosston High School, she was named State Golf Coach of the Year three times ('90, '93, '94). Her teams made nine state tournament appearances and were three-time state champions ('92, '93, '94). Roysland earned her bachelor of science degree in physical education & health from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minn. She has been a health & physical education teacher at the Fosston Public Schools since 1987. Roysland lives in Fosston with her husband, Mike, who is the head Golden Eagle Women's Basketball coach.
(4/24/07)- Golden Eagle Women's Golf Signs Ana Garcia (Minnetonka, Minn.) (Crookston, Minn.) -The Golden Eagle Women's Golf Program announced today the signing of Ana Garcia from Minnetonka, Minn., to a National Letter of Intent. Garcia is 5'7", freshman from Hopkins High School. She was a two sport athlete in high school, excelling in basketball and golf at Hopkins High. Garcia was an all All-Conference Honorable Mention selection in golf while in high school. She will also be playing for the Golden Eagle Women's Basketball team. Ana plans to major in Business at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. She is the daughter of Al and Sheila Garcia.
(4/17/07)- Golden Eagle Women's Golf Signs Brittany Poole (Channahan, Ill.) (Crookston, Minn.)-The Golden Eagle Women's Golf Coach Abby Hearn announced today the signing of Brittany Poole from Channahan, Ill. to a National Letter of Intent. Poole is from Minooka Community High School. She is a four-year varsity letter winner, three-time Sectional Qualifier and two-time All-Conference golfer. She was the recipient of the Coaches Award, was a PGA Youth Skills National Finalist and won first place at the IJGA Regionals. Poole is also an accomplished horse back rider who has competed and placed in Western Speed and Barrel Racing. Poole plans to major in Equine Science / Pre-Veterinary at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. She is the daughter of Cynthia and David Poole.
(4/11/07)- Golden Eagle Women's Golf Signs Tammy Wroblewski (Milwaukee, Wis.) (Crookston, Minn.)-The Golden Eagle Women's Golf Program is excited to announce the signing of Tammy Wroblewski from Milwaukee, Wis., as the National Letter of Intent signing period opened today. Wroblewski is a 5'9", right-handed golfer from Thomas More High School. As a freshman, her team took third in state. During her senior season, she was a team captain and was named All-Conference Second Team. Academically, Wroblewski is a member of the National Honor Society. Wroblewski is planning to major in Golf & Turf Management at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. She is the daughter of Jeff and Diane Wroblewski.
